Delaware State Funding

State Funding
The Delaware School Safety and Security Fund is a competitive grant program designed to help eligible public schools pay for projects that improve campus safety and security.

Program Administration, Award Priorities, and Funding Status
The program is administered by the Delaware Department of Education, with awards reviewed by a committee that includes representatives from the Department of Education, Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Office of Management and Budget, the Governor’s Office, and the Delaware Association of School Administrators.
Funding may be used to partially or fully support approved school-safety projects. Award priority is generally given to applications that address unresolved safety concerns or provide a strong safety benefit in relation to the project cost.
The program was established by state law and originally funded at $5 million, with future funding dependent on available state appropriations. No current application period has been confirmed.
